Before you begin
- Keep the original PDF. Compression results vary and a smaller result is not guaranteed.
- Check the attachment-size limit of the email provider or recipient before starting.
- Use a current desktop browser for a large or image-heavy document.

Check the attachment limit before you send
Start with
- An original 12 MB PDF
- A recipient who accepts attachments below 10 MB
What to expect
Run Compress, then compare the downloaded file with the recipient's limit. A smaller file is not necessarily small enough, and the result may not shrink at all.
Check your result
- If the copy is 11 MB, it still does not meet a below-10 MB limit.
- Open the copy and inspect text, images, page order and any interactive features.
These sizes illustrate the decision, not a measured compression result or a promised saving.
Quality checks
- The new file is actually smaller and remains below the recipient's attachment limit.
- Text, images, links, forms, and page order still work as expected.
- The filename clearly distinguishes the optimized copy from the original.
Important limitations
- The tool optimizes PDF structure; it does not intentionally lower image resolution.
- Already optimized or image-heavy PDFs may shrink very little or become slightly larger.
- If size matters more than visual quality, a full editor with adjustable image compression may be required.
Common questions and fixes
The PDF became larger. What should I do?
Keep the smaller original if it is suitable. This tool rewrites PDF structure and does not deliberately downsample images, so already optimized or photo-heavy documents may grow slightly.
Can I email a 15-minute Secure Link instead?
Only if the recipient can open it before expiry and the document is within the service's permitted scope. A temporary encrypted link is not a lasting email attachment or an archive. This guide's Compress operation does not upload the PDF.
Privacy boundary
This workflow uses an ordinary local tool. Your selected document content stays in browser memory; normal website delivery can still expose standard technical information such as an IP address, browser details, requested public route, and security events to infrastructure providers. Do not use regulated or highly sensitive records unless the service has been reviewed and approved for that use.
