What to expect
sample-compressed.pdf, rewritten with object streams. It may be smaller, similar in size, or larger; embedded images are not deliberately downsampled.
Check your result
- Compare actual file sizes in your file manager rather than assuming the new copy is smaller.
- Open both copies, compare page count and readability, and keep the original if the new copy offers no benefit.
